A reluctant search through a dusty attic becomes a journey into Christmas past for a college kid struggling to find joy in a world of negative headlines. When Kate is sent to look for a treasured family decoration, she stumbles across a box full of records and letters. Digging into these stories of Christmases long ago, Kate discovers a family legacy of strength, courage, and resillience in daunting circumstances.

Character ListKate: a 21-year-old college student disillusioned by the world who wants nothing to do with celebrating Christmas; she is sarcastic and cynical while being loveable. She is unprepared for the many emotional experiences she is witnessing and is surprised by her own vulnerability. A strong, honest actress who carries the show.
Family Members/Letter Writers (each is Kate's age; represents a generation of Kate’s family.) Caroline: Pioneer mother of an infant; lost her husband and young son. VIDEO SUBMISSION
Please record your song and monologue as two separate files. We prefer to see you from the waist up on a simple, plain background with good lighting, and in a fairly quiet location. You will upload your videos to YouTube, make them "unlisted," and include the link on your Audition Form.
MONOLOGUE
- You will receive the monologues after your submit your audition registration form.
- This does not have to be memorized, but you should be familiar enough with it to act without staring at the paper the whole time.
SONG
- Choose and prepare 1-2 minutes of a Broadway-style song that highlights your vocal range.
- This should be memorized, and should show off your acting skills.
- We prefer you to use an accompaniment. Please make sure that your voice can be heard over the track.
DANCE
- No preparation necessary. Not everyone who auditions will be needed for a dance audition. You will receive an invitation if we need to see you dance..
- At the dance audition, you will learn a short dance with our choreographers, and have a chance to show us what you can do! We are looking for confidence and poise, as well as dance ability.
- Please wear clothes and shoes you can dance in. If you don't have dance shoes, please bring socks.
