Taught by Inspiring Arts production staff members and maintstage actors, our six-week classes are aimed at introducing budding actors to the basic elements of theater and uncovering hidden potential. Our academy aims to be a place where creativity thrives, friendships grow, and lives are changed.

Monday Classes

INTRODUCTION TO THEATER
This is a gentle introduction into all things musical theater! We will explore acting, basic movement, and even play with props and costumes. This class is taught by Inspiring Arts choreographer and assistant director Faith Marsh.

EXPLORING MUSICAL THEATER MOVEMENT
Let's get moving! This class will introduce students to some of the basic steps and styles in musical theater. From jazz hands to kicklines, we'll try a little bit of everything as we explore movement and dance onstage. This class is taught by several of our mainstage actors and dancers!

ACTING FOR THE STAGE
From improv to comedy, we'll explore various types of acting and work on characterization through scene reading and improvisation exercises. Taught by Inspiring Arts' artistic director Beth Kenniv, this class is open to all levels of theater experience.

MUSICAL THEATER DANCE
Students of all experience levels will have a chance to explore a variety of dance styles used on stage, from swing to jazz. But even more, dancing onstage requires acting through movement, and audience connection. Come and learn these valuable skills with Inspiring Arts' mainstage choreographer Christy McGuffey. (NOTE: Students do not need special shoes, but should wear comfortable clothing that they can move in.)
